How To Verify Your Facebook Page
What have Robbie Williams, Will Smith and Theresa May all got in common?
Well, possibly amongst other things, they’ve all got a little blue tick next to their names on their Facebook profiles.
If you’re a public figure, media company or large brand then you *may* (no pun intended) qualify for one.
If you’re like the rest of us, however, then sadly you can’t have one.
Until recently, that is.
Whilst Facebook still won’t dish out their much desired blue badges of honour very easily, there is now a halfway house of sorts for the rest of us.
I present to you… the grey badge! Ooooooooooo…..
And you might just qualify for one yourself.
To begin with your page category must be local business, company or organisation.
Which I’m guessing there is a fair chance that your business page is.
This is a good start.
Now in just six very simple steps you can get your own badge. Here’s how…
- Click Settings at the top of your page
- If you’re eligible then then click General and there will be an option to click Page Verification
- If it’s there then do a happy dance! Then click Verify this Page followed by Get Started
- Enter a publicly listed phone number for your business
- Click Call Me Now and Facebook will call you with a verification code (well, one of their robots will actually!)
- Enter the code and click Continue
Cue your gray badge of authenticity!
Now if you don’t have a publicly listed telephone number then you can also send Facebook some official business documents such as a phone bill and they’ll use that to verify you.
There are some good reasons – vanity aside – to do this.
The badge actually means that you’re a verified Page.
That is, Facebook have checked you out and you’re legit.
That’s going to build some degree of faith and confidence in your clients, especially those who have never used you before.
It might not quite be the holy grail of the blue tick, but it’s pretty close.
It will only take you a few minutes and there is literally nothing to lose and everything to gain by having it added to your page.
So if you wanted to know how to verify your Facebook page, then now you know.
Why not pop over to Facebook now and claim yours?
You’ll be glad you did.
